USA: specially designated nationals and blocked persons list updates

We report an update of recent listings implemented by the United States against individuals and entities in different countries, such as Belarus, Russia, Lebanon, Syria, Myanmar, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Russia

 On August 9, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated eight individuals and five entities held responsible for the repeated repression of civil society by the Belarusian regime, the complicity in the unjustified war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the enrichment of the repressive leader of the Belarusian regime Alyaksandr Lukashenka. On August 11, OFAC issued a new round of sanctions targeting prominent members of Russia’s financial elite, as well as a Russian business association, “The Russian association of employers the Russian union of industrialists and entrepreneurs” (a.k.a. RSPP), a Russia-based organization involved in the technology sector of the Russian Federation economy. The RSPP was designated pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14024 for operating or having operated in the technology sector of the Russian Federation economy. In addition, OFAC designated four subjects involved in the poisoning of Aleksey Navalny in August 2020. On August 16, OFAC imposed sanctions on three entities tied to a sanctions evasion network attempting to support arms deals between Russia and the Democratic
